My friend said he went to the Barnes & Noble store for a book and was told that it was out of stock, but could be shipped to him for $16.95; or he could download it on Kindle for $5.00.

Bookstores will adapt to new technology, or die. Just like anything else.

Newsprint is already having some pretty big issues. Whether it will survive or how is up in the air at this point. The same really goes for B&N. They put the mom and pop stores out of business and now e-readers may put it out of business, but honestly I doubt that print media in and of itself will die. Books will always be carried by wal-mart and company, its just a question of whether or not actual book stores can survive.

I don’t think the Bookstores will notice much of a different, as they could easily introduce ebook downloaders in their stores, so that people can grab new books whilst out and about. Lots of children, and adults who don’t want to adapt to new technology will want to stick to normal books, even if it means paying more for them.
