The standard format for downloading eBooks to your iPad is the “ePub” format.
It can be downloaded and then uploaded into iTunes and finally synced to the iBooks app on the iPad via iTunes.

In regards to where you can get the eBooks from: One place will be the iBookstore, which is going to be available on the iPad within its applications.

As far as where can you get them, you will more than likely have to wait until April 3rd, or a little time after, because that is when you are going to see a flurry of eBook developers coming out of the proverbial “woodwork” to provide such reference information and websites for downloading and installing eBooks for the iPad.

For more details on eBook feature of iPad and the iBookStore, at the end of this post, is Apple’s most current link detailing the features, if you would like to review it. But aside from that, there is not much else, which will be known (amidst all the speculation that is), until after April 3rd.

I hope this provides you some general insight on your eBook question until April 3rd :)

Don’t get an Ipad, cancel your reserve, the Adam is much better and does MUCH MORE and is CHEAPER. It completely blows the ipad away. See for yourself:
