If I get an iPad 2, will I be able to use programs the likes of Photoshop and read and annotate my PDFs?

Question by Nina Ali: If I get an iPad 2, will I be able to use programs the likes of Photoshop and read and annotate my PDFs?
I’m a M.A student/graphic designer, so those are like my highest 2 priorities so would an ipad 2 let me download books from places like 4shared and torrents and stuff. Or should I go for an Android Tablet, I’m thinking HTC Flyer” or Evo or whtever its called nowadays” :D

Neither will run Photoshop. At least not natively

You can use remote access, But I don’t know how good that works.

Here’s an example I found:

But if remote access works well with the iPad or Android, Yes. Otherwise you are limited to “Apps”. Like what you would see on an iPhone or iPad. iPad, iPhone, And iPod Touch run the same OS(IOS), But I don’t believe they’ll all run the same programs as each other. As in an iPad app might not run on an iPhone or iPod touch.

When it comes to only being able to run Apps and not the same programs you could run on a computer, Its the same with Android. I don’t know about Android App compatibility when it comes to whether or not an Android App on one phone/tablet can run on another. But like with the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch I could be wrong.

Hope this helps.

Photoshop, not that I’m aware of, but iBooks (free) lets you open and annotate PDFs.

If Photoshop and photo touching is top priority, don’t settle for an iPad 2. You need the fastest computer with largest hard disk on the block and your best bet is with a desktop computer. If mobility is also a top priority, then go for a notebook. But that’s the limit.
